A company called Lightfarm Studios published several renders of a virtual assistant called Sam for Samsung Galaxy before deleting their posts.
Last weekend, internet users got pretty excited about the possibility that Samsung might get a brand new assistant after illustration studio Lightfarm shared images of a virtual character named Sam.
At the time of writing, there hasn’t been any official announcement that Samsung is replacing Bixby with a new virtual assistant.
But let’s find more about Sam and how people on the internet reacted.
Who is virtual assistant Sam?
Last weekend, illustration studio Lightfarm Studios released a concept idea for “Samsung Galaxy’s virtual assistant” named Sam before taking down their publication and accompanying social media posts.
The company published several images of the virtual character which quickly went viral as people started to discuss the new idea and share their reactions.
In a now-deleted post, Lightfarm wrote of their project:
“Throughout the process, the team devoted itself to developing realistic materials, mainly for the character’s hair and clothing, so that Sam appeared aesthetically pleasing. Sam was an incredible partnership between the Cheil Agency and Lightfarm, and we are thrilled to be part of this project!”
So far, there hasn’t been any official announcement from Samsung about a new virtual assistant.
As some of you might remember, Samsung was rumoured to release a AI-generated virtual assistant called NEON last year but it wasn’t included with Samsung Galaxy S21 or other Galaxy devices.
