Ubisoft is bringing Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell to VR - Eurogamer.net

Will be exclusive to Oculus.

In news both theoretically exciting and so detail-deficient it barely constitutes news, Ubisoft has announced it'll be bringing its Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed franchises to VR.

Ubisoft made the reveal as part of Facebook's VR event earlier this week (where it was promptly superseded by other, considerably more substantial bits of news, hence why I'm only just getting around to this now), before offering precisely no additional game details.

About all we can say for certain at the moment is that both Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed VR will be developed by Ubisoft's Red Storm studio in collaboration with Ubisoft Düsseldorf, Ubisoft Reflections, and Ubisoft Mumbai.

The suggestion appears to be that these will be fully fledged VR experiences (exclusive to Oculus), which is likely to be glorious news for long-suffering fans of Splinter Cell in particular.

Somewhat unbelievably, Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher hasn't appeared in his own mainline game since 2013's Splinter Cell: Blacklist; instead, Ubisoft has been content to roll out the fan-favourite character to prop up its other creations, most recently turning the stealth hero (who is, at least, getting his own animated Netflix series) into an operator in Rainbow Six: Siege.

Hopefully it won't be too long before Ubisoft is ready to reveal more.
